While I'm too busy sewing my @$$ off and prepping for Saturday's class to do a proper post, you can go check out what I've been up to at my day job by peeking at my Instructable on making a paper corset mockup. For more info about the pattern this was based on, check out Jo's beautiful version of this corset at Bridges on the Body. The paper mockup is about as far as I'm going to get for the next week or two, but rest assured I'll tell you all about all the bits and details when I can get back to the project.
Lest you think my job is all fun and games, making and writing that was the only thing that kept me sane during a week of doing stacks of paperwork and billing.

oooooo!!!!! now this looks ever so interesting. :-) Hey, I have a request for you - I tried and tried to scale up a gridded pattern on my magical computer box yesterday, and I got it scaled in Photoshop, but I'll be darned if I could get it to print out. You're techy - help me, Laced Angel, you're my only hope! (plus I know others would love to know how to do this, too)

DeleteIf it's shrinking it down to print on a single 8.5 x 11 page, it likely that you need to change some settings in your print window. The print window is bit different depending on your program/computer, but look for some of the following things:
- Shrink oversized pages (it this is selected, unselect it)
- Scale to fit media (it this is selected, unselect it, and/or set scale to 100%)
- Fit to page (it this is selected, unselect it)
- Tile (if you have the option to tile pages, select it)
- Poster (one of my programs uses "poster" instead of tile; seems to mean the same thing)
Some of these may be hidden under other tabs or buttons in the main print window; they may be lurking under print options, layout, preview, page setup or preferences.

I should mention that the above is what to do if you want to print a large file at actual size by splitting it up between sheets of regular 8.5 x 11 paper. If you're trying to print it on a large format printer, that would be different and depends on the printer.

ReplyDeleteI browsed through 1907 of de gracieuse and the only corset there was on page 215, but it looks a bit different - it has gussets. Do you remember the page yours was on?

DeleteInterestingly enough, the image of the corset looks less curvy and longer than the actual corset made up.

DeleteI've found that the images can be quite misleading, which is why I love doing the paper mock up first, because you can get an idea of what it will really look like. In this case I knew what the shape would be already, as Jo of Bridges on the Body has already made this, but it's an invaluable tactic :)
