Stays Update

I'm still plugging away at the stays!  I've avoided posting updates on them so far, mostly because your feed would end up looking like this:

Finished another 20 little squares.  Hooray!

Finished another 5 little squares.  Dammit.

Finished another 35 little squares.  Have a hand cramp.  Send tequila.

... and so on.

However, I've gotten several requests for a tutorial on how I'm cording these, so I wanted to let you know that I should have one up by midweek!  I've learned a lot of nifty tricks to make this process go smoother, so even if you're a cording pro you might learn a new thing or two.

In the meantime, I've got another bagazillion little squares to stitch, so see you soon!

  1. I would so send you tequila!

I'm in aswe of all your stitching - I'm far too lazy to hand sew this much on stays. I've been wearing my georgian ones with the bottom edge unbound for about 8 years. It's time to replace them so maybe I'll get the next set complete.

    1. Haha, I've got several pairs of corsets/stays that I just wear without ever finishing the binding on!

I'm not hand sewing these, though that was the original plan. Instead I'm using a handcrank sewing machine, as it's the only way I can stitch precisely 4 stitches each side and retain control.

    2. That's do-able! But still, so much work and I remain impressed.
