This. This is what happens when I rush. Not only do I do a sloppy job (you can't see that part) but I stop cleaning as I go and I end up doing something stupid like not noticing my pattern is stuck underneath the seam I'm ironing. Anyone know how to get ink out of silk taffeta?
Ouch. Unfortunately I don't have a helpful suggestion, I can only commiserate. I've been there.
ReplyDeleteTry rubbing it with muslin, for a really long time. It worked when my purse left purple marks on my silk satin corset.
ReplyDeleteOh no! How vexing! Unfortunately I have no suggestions. Any chance you could do embroidery over it if it doesn't come out?
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! Even commiseration makes me feel a tiny bit better about the whole thing. I'll be trying the muslin trick when I get a chance (I'm right in the middle of doing 30 things, so fixing stains is low on the totem pole sadly). I suppose I could try some embroidery if it doesn't work, though it's on an odd spot- the top front edge of a corded hip gusset. Then again, embroidery over cording looks pretty spiffy!
ReplyDeleteHope I didn't hurt your eardrums when I found your post of your New Home treadle sewing machine because I yelled out loud. I have been on here for days trying to find out more about the one I purchased the other day and was finding very little. Was beginning to think no one had one like it!!
ReplyDeleteYours Is JUST like mine, only it looks like you have the attachments. Mine came with the shuttle and one bobbin. Only thing it needed was a belt and a new needle. Am waiting for the mail to get my belt and found needles at a shop the other day.
Feel better knowing now that mine has a sister!! Thanks and am adding you to my blog!!
Woo! I'm just as excited that someone else has one! I haven't had a chance to try mine out yet. I've got a new belt for it but I'm still missing the shuttle case the the bobbin gets loaded into prior to being put into the shuttle carrier. Keep me updated on how your machine does, I'm insanely curious :)
